I didn't know a new laptop was that big a deal.  :)

Sue ordered us a Lenovo Thinkpad T61, with SUSE enterprise installed,
from the factory.  I got a laptop and I didn't pay for Vista!  Better,
her corporate discount applied.

Oh, yes the same model with Vista home is 100 bucks more.  And I didn't
have to perform back flips to find the Linux option.
