[mdlug] IPv6 setup

This weekend I decided to try setting up IPv6 on my home network. The first
step was to recompile the kernel on one system where I hadn't enabled it
before. Then I tried to get a public IPv6 address and use it.

Many of my web-searches for more information led me to the 6bone, which is no
longer in service.

I created an account with Freenet6 ( http://www.go6.net ) and tried to create
one with Hurricane Electric ( http://www.tunnelbroker.net ) but never got
their response-email. I was able to use ping6 between two anonymous Freenet6
IPv6 addresses configured on two hosts on my network; the ping-time was 90
seconds, when most Internet hosts have a ping-time of 20 to 40 seconds for
me.

My next step was to create an AAAA record in my public domain; but I haven't
tried connecting to it from outside yet.

Has anyone in MDLUG dealt with either of these services? It seems that HE
would set up a "standard" 4in6 connection (on the 2002::/16 network), while
freenet6 uses their own address range.

Does anyone know of any up-to-date documentation of how to set up a LAN with
publically-routable IPv6 addresses?
