FUD stands for Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. This is a perfect example
of Microsoft spreading FUD. They are using major media to broadcast
"facts" that they are willing or ready to test in a court of law, with
the intention of scaring people away from using competing products.
The fact that this is FUD does *NOT* mean that the claims are untrue,
simply that they are unproven. Microsoft hopes that you will give in
to their fears and not use Linux, in which case they will not need to
spend time and money on court cases they may or may not win. If nobody
uses Linux for fear of infringing patents, Microsoft never needs to
prove that Linux actually infringes. For them, it's mission
accomplished.
