Yes, it's true.  The Democrats tend to run their sites on Linux or
FreeBSD, and the Republicans tend to run their web sites on Windows.
This actually all started back in the 2000 election when Al Gore
intentionally picked Linux/Apache on VA Linux hardware to run his web
site as a show of support for the OSS community.  Bush's site ran on
Windows/IIS.  Whether or not Bush's choice was intentional or not
wasn't something that was made public, but it's no secret that he was
a supporter of MS during its antitrust trial.  It's also no secret
that his DOJ was responsible for letting MS off the hook after it had
lost in court.

I do remember that their choice of server software got a lot of
attention from the tech crowd...it got my attention.  Ever since then
Democrats tend to go with Linux, and Republicans with Microsoft.
Personally I think that after 7 years and with so much dominance for
each OS based on party, it's pretty easy to argue that much of this is
intentional now.  You don't get numbers like that for such a long time
by chance.  Isn't it funny how absolutely everything in the world is
involved in politic somehow?
