I been dealing with linksys tech support over the last few months about my router dropping connections. Each time I have to enplane what telnet and ports are. Then I have to tell them why its not a port forwarding problem. Then they like to disconnect me. It as amusing at first now its just getting annoying.

Subject: [mdlug] Charter Communications clueless tech support

I contacted Charter's Internet customer service through their online
chat to find out the upstream speed of their 10Mbps package. The chat
window has a very short scrollback buffer but I saved the important
part:

Jomar: Do you mean to say that you are having a slow speed?

Jomar: Is that what you mean?

Jeff Hanson: I am considering upgrading to 10Mbps package from 5Mbps
package. The 5Mbps package has 512Kbps upstream speed. What is 10Mbps
upstream bandwidth?

Jomar: One gigabyte upstream bandwith for ten meg internet package.

Jomar: One gigabyte upstream bandwidth for ten meg internet package.

Jomar: Is there anything else I can help you with today?

It seemed too good to be true so I used their contact form to clarify:
----------------
Via the live chat, I asked one of your agents, Jomar, about the
upstream bandwidth of the 10Mbps package. Jomar replied that it was
8Gbps. I was going to reply but the session timed out while I was
momentarily incapacitated due to laughter. Could an agent with
technical expertise answer this question?

PS. I would like to offer my training services to Charter Internet
support personnel at a rate of $50USD/hour/individual. A few hours of
basic Internet technology review would greatly increase the
effectiveness of your support staff. If you are interested please
contact me at the above address.
----------------
I got a reply later that it was 1Mbps up. With the no-TV bonus charge
it's $79.99/mo.
