 If I knew, I'd be writing it, and figuring out what size yacht I would buy. :->

 I know! What kinds of things would a 'typical user' or even 'power user'
want to do that requires more than 4GB of RAM?

 My best guess is it probably has to do with user interfaces. The 8 to 16-bit
transition moved from LEDs and text over to color graphics. The 16-to-32-bit
transition permitted modern GUIs.

 The 32-to-64 transition will probably introduce 3D user interfaces on a
wide scale. I have a notion for something like this that I'm slowly working on:
