Which version of Debian, which burn software, which CD, what errors?  As 
others have suggested, an MD5sum will be useful.  Included with Linux,

has always worked well for me.

 K3b does an ISO-file checksum before it burns the file, but Nero, etc. 
mostly don't-- one of the reasons I like K3b...
