Interesting.  I had similar issues with a MSN dial-up account.  I
didn't want to install their ridiculous front-end software but I
couldn't figure out how to connect without it.  I contacted their tech
support and told them that I could install their software because I
didn't have an internet connection to download with it.  They told me
how to log in directly, something like MSN/<email address> I think.
Of course I never installed the software.
