Up until recently I did the same but I have desided to start doing all of
my tax returns by hand, including the ones for the business that I am
getting ready to start.

What do you use for filing federal income taxes? Mine are extremely
complicated (self-owned business, many types of investments, etc.), and
doing them on paper or spreadsheet would take an order of magnitude
longer than utilizing the dedicated tax software, and absolutely
guarantee errors on my return. I've never seen Linux versions of these
(although I believe that the IRS should provide it free of charge, but
that's another rant), if anyone knows of one, please let me know.
So, once per year I use a garbage-picked machine for a few days to get
through tax season, then shut it off for another 12 months.
