You could try IPCop or Smoothwall - IPCop is still being maintained,
Smoothwall seems to be a little dead on the updates.IPCopy allows you you to
set up secured network I/F for things like wireless and DMZ's.
it can do traffic shaping and monitoring traffic flow, can be configured to
be a NIDS and proxy/capture proxy server.
It can be setup to run on a SD card if needed.
May be a little over kill, but its a option.
