A serif man obviously.

I care less serif or san serif, but I want clear clean contrast.
Complimentary colors are right out as well. No red on green.  If you
want green text on black one should use a very light green, say #99ff99. 

On a CRT screen the lit green text on the black background is readable,
high contrast.  It doesn't work in a graphical environment.  Worse so on
this LCD.
