A war is not good for the overall economy per se - that's the "broken
window fallacy", of course. But a war *can* be good for *parts* of an
economy, in the same way that a broken window is good for a glazier. For
example, U.S. oil companies are doing well these days. Wars also increase
government borrowing and spending, which pumps money into the economy,
leading to short-term positive effects. Kind of like a sugar rush,
including the after-effects.
So Robert may have been guilty of being incomplete, but not guilty of
relaying the "STUPIDEST myth ever told".
