With our new server, which I had to put in place in a day after the old
one took a major dump, we have been getting some periodic hard lock
situations. Turns out that the pre-compiled multi-processor version of
Samba that came with the distro doesn't really like Intel Dual-Core
processors.
Luckily, it takes a good two weeks before a real problem occurs. So,
when I have had a few minutes free, I have been building another server
to scoot our filesharing onto. When that's all done, I'll be able to
take some time, compile up a good Dual-Core CPU compatible version of Samba.
