What: CSS Lifeboat and Speedboat. Where: Online GoLUG meeting at meet.jit.si/golug [1]. When: Wednesday 9/4/2024 at 7pm Eastern Daylight Time ==================================================== If you haven't seen one of Steve's Lifeboat and Speedboat presentations, strap in. The Lifeboat portion gets everybody up to speed enough to do basic CSS tasks and formulate Internet questions quickly. The Speedboat portion is a rapid moving demonstration of some advanced CSS. The Lifeboat portion, which comes first, includes: * Why CSS? * Why not platforms (Node/React/Rails/PHP/Wordpress/Bootstrap/etc)? * CSS Hello World. * CSS basic syntax. * Centering. * Responsive techniques (to fit different width screens). * Foldunder columns. * Responsive images. * Responsive source code text. * Media queries. * Optimal text layout. * Header menu. * Grid layout. The Speedboat portion, well, you'll just have to see, but here's a hint: It's something you probably thought couldn't be easily done without platforms or helpers. And cooler still, it passes W3C validation no errors, no warnings (except for warnings about closing slashes on elements, which are harmless). It's going to be good, so we all hope to see you there. It was actually quite easy and fun.? And you can also see how manage docker instances and create a service definition for systemd. c On 9/13/24 10:26 AM, Gib wrote: > Any suggestions for topics for tomorrow's meeting? > > Taylor Swift has a concern about AI. > > Weight loss drugs > > Gene editing > > Heat pumps > > Atmospheric Water Generator > https://trueprepper.com/atmospheric-water-generator/ > > > > > https://www.collegetransitions.com/blog/most-interesting-technology-research-topics/ > > https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/top-technology-trends/ > > https://www.technologyreview.com/2024/01/08/1085094/10-breakthrough-technologies-2024/ > > Next Meeting, September 14 > > Join us for our upcoming meeting. That way it won't confuse anyone about the regular meeting (where I plan to introduce Bender and Flo). Let's see.? Any Panera or Coney Island or similar would be good.? If we meet after 1 the lunch crowd will have dispersed.? And since I'm retired, any day is okay by me. So...what day, time and place will work for most of us? c On 9/20/24 10:38 AM, Gib wrote: > It looks like I will be traveling during the time of our next meeting. I paid $15 for it at Big Lots. It's s great deal at that price. But now I found it for *$6.98* on clearance. Even if you already have a mouse (which of course you do), I recommend this mouse unless you really like your current mouse. (Yeah Carl, there's one in Canton too). Then, Microcenter is only 2.2 miles from there. We could make this day the "Gib Road Trip".
