All,

I replaced an old 4:3 monitor with a new 16:9 monitor on my Ubuntu 16.4
desktop. The desktop already is connected to a 16:9 monitor. The display
seems to be stretched on the new monitor and seems to be in low
resolution  though the resolution says 1920x1080. When I went to nVidia
X-server settings I saw the two displays overlapped a bit. I tried
moving them side-by-side and hitting  'Apply'.  It says the Current
layout has some inconsistencies' and 'Show Details' shows

• MetaMode 3 of Screen 0  does not have an active display device.

• MetaMode 4 of Screen 0  does not have an active display device.

• MetaMode 5 of Screen 0  does not have an active display device.

• MetaMode 7 of Screen 0  does not have an active display device.

• MetaMode 10 of Screen 0  does not have an active display device.

• MetaMode 12 of Screen 0  does not have an active display device.

• MetaMode 14 of Screen 0  does not have an active display device.

Does the configuration be changed from the 'NVidia X Server Settings'
GUI or does it require manual changes to configuration file?

Thanks for any help
