Good Morning Mat, I&rsquo;m reaching out to you to regarding a program that may be of interest to members of the Metro Detroit Linux Users Group. As a response to growing IT talent needs of Michigan employers, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation is  launching an IT Technician track of our Michigan Advanced Technician Training (MAT2) program this fall, and we are looking to identify companies interested in developing skilled IT talent. MAT2 is a dual education training model that allows companies  to &ldquo;grow their own&rdquo; employees and ensure their own professional competency standards by being directly involved in the education/training process. The participating companies select students to enter this three year associates degree program, during which students will alternate between classroom time at Oakland Community College and work periods at their sponsor company. Companies cover the cost of tuition, a school stipend, and a standard hourly wage, and the students commit to remaining with the company for at least two years after completing their training. The model allows the companies to begin integrating the students in their company from the very beginning of their training, building their familiarity with internal processes and company culture. I have attached some additional information about the MAT2 IT program. We will be launching the program in mid-August, but have slots available for companies interested in joining for the 2014 launch.
