[mdlug] Lightening add-on in Thunderbird stopped working

Hi,

I have Thunderbird Version 24.0 with Lightening add-on using the Google
calendar, running on Ubuntu 12.04.

After some recent update, looks like the calendar connection stopped
working altogether. File->New->Calendar..." is grayed out and when I
open the calendar, it shows an empty (local) calendar.

I have tried disabling and enabling the Lightening add-on and restarting
Thunderbird without any luck.

Any ideas?
