I've found Xubuntu (XFCE version of Ubuntu) to be perfectly usable - can do all the desktop stuff I'd like to do. Apparently Lubuntu (using LXDE) is even easier on system requirements.

Subject: [mdlug] Installing linux on a Net book

I have an older netbook that currently needed to be refreshed. It has windows xp right now but I'm to move over to a slim version of Linux. All I need it to run is open office and a browser. It has an atom processer and a gig of ram. What have lug members used and like for netbooks. Normally I would try a few different ones to fund one that I like but having a newborn at home dosent really lent to alot of free time.

Thanks
Terry
