[mdlug] Audio recorder for Linux for recording from microphone input.

Hi,

I am looking for a good audio recorder to record from a program
(video/audio) on a DVD. I tried Audacity but I found that there was
some distortion while recording from an output from a DVD recorder
even at level set at medium. I could not find many controls in
Audacity for improving the recording. Maybe Audacity is good for
editing but not for recording or maybe the problem is with sound card
quality. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 on Lenovo laptop,

Any pointers is appreciated.
