[mdlug] Why is a blank cell != zero value in OpenOffice-Calc 3.5

Upon deleting some of the cells in a chain of formulas, I found every
downstream dependent cell go fixed. Which means I had some non-empty
(whitespace) cells in the upstream  which Excel and Older versions of OO
were ignoring or taking as zeroes.
