As it turns out, it wasn't *quite* that simple. I ran "dmraid -E -r
/dev/sda" and discovered that some RAID metadata lingered on the drives
from long ago. This is apparently what confused the installer. I still
think things should have been more clearly displayed, but the installer
wasn't entirely to blame.
