I recently posted a note saying I purchased a cheap power supply and it didn't work. I went back and picked-up a brand name unit. Antec is the vendor of choice here.

I strongly disagree with the cheapest power supply. You should be the
best for your money. Remember nothing is between the power supply and
the mother board. A blown PS can take down the whole computer,
permanently. I always over rate my PS. if my board and drives are
pulling 400 I buy 750. That means a longer life on the power supply and
cooler operation.
