Looks like my work (Siemens Enterprise Communications) is looking to hire a Sr. Systems Engineer for the Unix team if anyone is interested. It's mostly AIX, Solaris, and HP-UX, but there is a growing Linux contingent (which I would love to see expanded). The location would be Rochester Hills most likely, though there are sites all over Southeast Michigan. It's a datacenter environment 24/7/365 and I think the position is contract to hire. You'd be working through a contracting house until you went permanent with Siemens. The business activity is healthcare related, primarily for Henry Ford Health System. Feel free to respond to me if anyone is interested and I'll get your contact info over to HR. ---"Our Client is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer with AIX, LINUX and scripting Experience to work as part of a team supporting 50+ servers in a 24 by 7 environment. This person will be troubleshooting and responding to technical problems by creating solutions. Writing scripts is a big part of this job and scripts will be used to solve problems within servers. Candidates need to be able to work with other teams to resolve performance and other issues in a timely fashion to meet customer needs. Ability to document work and the environment is necessary for internal and customer communication. This is a tight knit team and each Engineer is expected to work independently as well as part of multi discipline teams for projects. This group will interact with other technical departments like the Oracle DBA's, SAN Engineers, and others. Each member of this team is expected to be on cal.

Must Haves:6+ years experience with UNIX servers
HP,AIX and LINUX experience
Strong scripting experience ( Korn Shell preferred)
Experience in a large distributed environment

Nice to haves:
Performance Monitoring experience
Apache Web Server
Netbackup / Backup Exec
Oracle support
Clustering and High Availability
Server restoration using ignite, jumpstart, NIM, or similar products
PowerVM
Server Hardening / Security"
