When paying with your own money, in addition to a visit to Computer Direct, who would you recommend buying a laptop from, in order to get a reasonably priced (say $700 max), reasonably sturdy, linux-friendly laptop? I don't mind a Windows license with it so I can set it up dual boot, but I would much prefer XP without all the DRM, though. I'm thinking ahead for my daughter going to college next fall. (If it were for me, I'd also require the Ctrl key in the lower left corner, i.e. no Thinkpads).
Thanks!
