[mdlug] dell optiplex 760

I know I'm going to get it for saying this, but ..

Dell desktops generally work pretty well with Ubuntu. Since I prefer KDE, I use Kubuntu, and Jaunty has been very stable with the KDE 4.2 packages from the ppa backports repository (see the KDE 4.2 announcement page on Kubuntu's home page for details).

Then only thing that might worry me is the Radeon GPU, although I hear ATI have made great strides in supporting Linux in the last year or so.

Sincerely, Mike

Subject: [mdlug] dell optiplex 760

I have a 4 month old dell and I am not choosing to go the windows route, it
has no OS currently as it was bought at a auction. With the specs belowi
want to make it a linux machine, I have learned via virt machines but want
to do a real desktop distro, I think i have gotten it down to 3 distros but
worried
about drivers, Debian, Fedora, and Ubuntu. I can follow directions on what
is need to mount a usb devices for drivers and install them. I am wondering
what is my best
option. I am open to criticism and comments on what will and will not work,
Dell had nothing on there site for "approved distros" and no i wont sell it
as this is to much
for some one still learning.
