Some access panels take as few as 2 screws. The additional screws often
secure the drive to a loading tray, and/or interface connector.

If you get a new drive its hard to find anything under 80 Gig. Lots of
room for two operating system if you want to dual boot. Or, if your
going with strictly linux you still have lots of room for a second
"emergency" install on a "hidden" (not mounted) partition that you can
boot into to fix the first one.

At 55 Gig it's almost certainly IDE, but do get the manual and check.
