It certainly looks nifty. I wouldn't mind evaluating one.
From my PoV, it's one more device that I have to worry about keeping
charged to be able to even get on the Internet. I'd also be worried
about the memory limitations of such a device, especially since it only
appears to support five users, things that generate large numbers of
connections, such as BitTorrent could easily overwhelm it.
That being said, it's all educated guesses on my part as I haven't
actually played with it.
I've used (and generally prefer) the routers where you plug the modem
widget into the router when you need it. In a lot of ways, that's a lot
more simple and flexible. It also goes back to my carrier agnostic
strategy as well, in that if you have to swap modems, fine, but swapping
the whole router when going to another carrier is just silly.
Cradlepoint <http://www.cradlepoint.com> makes devices that do exactly
that. They do have the PHS300 (which yes, does need to be charged to
use), but you can at least bolt the modem widget to your computer if you
need to. I don't own one, but I've used one that a friend of mine owns.
It seemed to work pretty well, as an end user. :)
