I'm using VMware player for CAD.  It has experimental 3D acceleration
support but I'm not using it.  You need to use VMware Workstation or a
third-party app to create some empty disk images as Player can't
create them.  After that it's no different the setting up a new PC
with Windows.  You will also need the VMware Tools which exist as an
ISO within Workstation.  Player can mount ISOs but doesn't include the
tools.  Here are some performance tips:
