David,
Questions:
1. Do you have a STATIC IP assigned to you from your Internet service
provider?
2. Do you have a domain name registered to you that you can setup a MX
record to point to your static IP?
Once those two prerequisites are set, then you can configure your email
server, which is relatively simple.
One thing I HIGHLY recommend setting up is ASSP. It is an open source
anti-spam engine. Here's a link:
http://assp.sourceforge.net/
First I would get email working in both directions (incoming and outgoing),
then I would integrate the ASSP with your MTA (postfix?).
On a side note, IMHO, setting up postfix via command line is pretty simple.
A few changes to the config files, restart postfix and you're done. No need
to bother with a GUI because once you have it configured and running, you
should be set. Also, there might be a webmin module for postfix, but I
can't say for sure.
I'm running postfix with ASSP, so if you have any questions or get stuck,
then give me a hollar.
-Mike

I'm running Suse Linux, and I decised not to pay 69.99 for Email Pro From
register.com for my email. Instead I'd like to setup my email through Linux.
Can any one point me to references and or advice on how to get this done.
