[mdlug] knoppix does not see the hard disk on a laptop

Hello,

I am trying to retrieve some files from a windows Lenovo laptop which could not be logged into. After booting into knoppix I see that the NTFS file systems are not mounted. I cannot see any devices named /dev/sda* or /dev/hda*.  I now the partitions exists as windows boot from C: drive.

Any ideas?
