[mdlug] MDLUG at Penguicon

MDLUGers:

Most of you are probably aware that this year's Penguicon is a week from
this weekend. You may or may not be aware that MDLUG is hosting a room
party Friday night and Saturday night. We will be in room 701 (unless
they change our assignment at the last minute).

Any one who wants to volunteer, or otherwise provide input on the
subject can join our penguicon party room mailing list by sending an
email with SUBSCRIBE in the subject line to penguicon_at_mdlug_dot_org.
Please note that this list is about the MDLUG Party room only. Penguicon
itself has many other lists and volunteer opportunities.

Currently being discussed on this list are:

o What kind of snacks and beverages do we want?
 (Alcoholic beverages were ruled our after most of the likely volunteers
said checking IDs was more trouble than they cared to endure.)

o What theme, meme, or other gimmick will we use to set our room part
apart from the others. There's a general consensus that we want to
emphasis technical, Linuxey stuff over sci-fi/ fantasy.

o Do we want to have computers in the room? The general consensus is no,
except that of course laptops. But we might be persuaded. Much depends
on the space available, which we still have to find out.
