Yes, LinkedIn is a professional networking site. They have recently added
group discussions to the site. The site does provide more than just
discussions, so it is not in direct conflict with other discussion forums.
The benefit of a MDLUG group would be for people (employers) to connect with
members of the group. There is also an Open Source group that has a wider
audience then MDLUG.
I've been on LinkedIn for a while and would be happy to answer any other
questions about it.
