The printers I bought last fall during the Black Friday sales all worked well:

The Brother and HP inkjets had network support so they were easy.  I
had some trouble with getting the Samsung CLP-300 working on Ubuntu
Gutsy but Hardy has a open-source driver and all I did was plug it in.
 Color quality was adequate but all I've done so far is print a couple
of Penguicon posters.
