 If you load the ohci1394 module with the option "phys_dma=0", it disables
the insecure access to memory. For example, on Ubuntu, you'd add a line
like:

options ohci1394 phys_dma=0

 to the file "/etc/modules.d/options". Other distros use "/etc/modules.conf".
(This might interfere with using firewire disk drives, though. I don't have
any to check.)
