I just wanted to followup. That stunt, and many other unfilmed events
at UMass, were very successful. And to our knowledge, UMass was the
first University in the country to support Linux campus-wide. That
means, not just for engineering students or physicists. If you were a
freshman, and had Linux on your laptop, you can now bring it into the
University help desk and get your issues troubleshooted. I don't know
of any other University in the country that trained their employees on
Linux this way before we did. I think it was a great accomplishment
on our part. I ran the LUG as VP and President for three years and
worked directly with IBM in this effort. If you disagree, well then I
am still on the lookout to add other Universities to the list of
Linux-friendliness. Does MIT, Stanford, or Carnegie Mellon even do
this? Thanks or your input :-)
