Because it's redundant now that he's got another, better sound card?
This ties back into the Linux sound handling that I mentioned before.
It's not hard - for any *particular* sound API - to direct sound to a
particular card. Getting *all* the various sound APIs to agree on that
routing is much harder. If he's not doing things that need multiple
sound cards, then disabling the unused hardware prevents such conflicts,
like disabling onboard video if there's no monitor connected to it
helps.
