There's a known problem with certain nV laptop-graphics chips -- they
were improperly manufactured (a package-design error) that caused a
drastically-increased failure rate due to thermal cycling.  Several
manufacturers were stung by this; to my knowledge, nobody is taking
responsibility -- in fact, most manufacturers that used the affected
chipsets merely issued patches that force the cooling fans to run
continuously, thus causing the chips to fail AFTER the warranty
expires.  I'm not sure if there are any lawsuits over this, but there
SHOULD be...
