I can also recommend Brother as having good Linux support
on the Company website.  I've also been happy with Epson,
even though they don't explicitly support Linux, they do
release their specs so that programmers can write proper
software.

In contrast, avoid Canon.  You'll be lucky to use any of
their equipment past 720x720dpi, and CcMmYK is out of the
question, as Canon's printer division thinks that they're
in the driver software business, not the printer business.

This is sad, because I've been using Canon photographic
equipment for close to 20 years.
