Last year I did go with an HP DV9000 series laptop. Everything but the 
Ricoh card reader work perfectly, until about 2 weeks after the the one 
year warranty expired. Then the NVidia video failed. I can boot to 
command line, but even there the text characters look "worm eaten" and 
sketchy. Most of the time X will not start, the error is:"could not 
initialize NVidia /dev/nvidia0" (or words very much like that.) Even the 
HP logo at the first power up splash, and the bois screens look "off".

I'm looking to get a second opinion, but I think I'll need to replace 
the motherboard. :(

Other than that, it worked great!
