Yes, I had lots of problems with other printers.
Yet there were 2 successes that I Experenced.
1. Suse 7.0 a few years ago. I loaded Suse 7.0 on an older IBM I was working on a project and I added a networked printer Xerox and it worked I just put in a like model because that one printer was not on the list.
2. I had Suse 10.3 and needed to print. The Canon and lexmark printers that I had did not work. So there was this HP DJ1415 At Big Lots. It worked great.
I even saw an HP tool for Linux.
I just wish it was that easy for WiFi Cards.

Subject: [mdlug] HP printer working well
I like that HP specifically makes Linux drivers available for most of
their printers and updates them. My parents old printer died, and
looking at circular deals, I had them pick up an HP C5580; the printer
itself worked out of the box, my father (who's not a computer type) had
no trouble. The scanner didn't work at first (they're running an older
Ubuntu) but I was able to download and install the latest HP Linux
drivers and it was quite straightforward.
Just offering a datapoint.
Sincerely,

manufactured by the same company." - Dan J. Rempe
