[mdlug] HP vs Toshiba

Good Morning All,
    I have a real dilema now that prices are coming down, apparently
quite a bit. I could replace the 17" Toshiba Satellite I just got last
year with a comparable 17" HP notebook for about 2/3 of what I paid last
year. The user has never really liked the Toshiba and neither have I. I
would most likely sell the Toshiba if I did buy the HP. I would be
moving to an AMD processor from an Intel but other than that pretty
much vanilla from what I've seen so far. Given that HP typically is
much friendlier to Linux than Toshiba I'm thinking this might be a good
move. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Any particular things I need
to steer clear of?
