To its credit, this is the second Linux live CD implementation
to find my desktop's wireless
card (acx100 chipset). There was a little icon in the lower right
corner, and clicking it gave a list
of all the hosts that I usually see with Kismet, along with what are
presumably signal strength
bars.
However, the Ubuntu system is for some reason unable to actually
connect to the open
router which the stuff in my Fedora Core 4 installation can usually do.
Also, the suite of applications in Ubuntu's menus seemed rather
sparse, compared to what's
on both Fedora Core and the "latest knoppix" disk that I got at the
Con. (The latter of course
did NOT find my wireless card.)
Both of these live distros, I think, managed to find my Samsung
1710 printer, though the
Knoppix distro had permission issues when I tried to configure it.
