[mdlug] home hosting (Comcast rant)

After taking their bait with false advertising that their business
internet was faster than DSL, I had them remove my service. They kept
billing me for it - service I no longer had, ignoring my letters to them
about it. When the bill hit $505 I wrote the Michigan public service
commission. This got their attention. First they tried to negotiate to
half this and I laughed - $250 for something I never had in a house I
moved from last year. They cleared the balance.

Now I have DSL with several times the upload even possible with comcast,
no traffic shaping nor filtering, and slightly faster downloads than
comcast business class. Yes, false advertising on their part. Oh, yeah,
every time I complained about my vonage traffic being "shaped" their
only solution was to tell me I had to buy their voice service.... They
would not send out a tech until I said it was time to pull the plug.
