Yes and the rsync will work for a # of days anywhere from 2 - 8

I did unmount the drive but then ran fsck on the mount point DOH
I attempted the fsck on the device /dev/hdg1 and /dev/hdg2 with the
result being the same error

The drive is less than a month old I would hope it is not the drive.
