It turns out I have Open Office 2.0 Beta, which might explain it. The math works properly in plain Open Office 2.0 on my kanotix image, and also in Open Office 1.1, surprisingly. The developers must have decided to try something new, then immediately changed their minds when they saw the results. ---- - Drew.
