I'm using Xming (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xming). Combined with 
putty, which you can download from the same repository, it works 
wonderfully. I often swap between 2 laptops, one running Ubuntu, the other 
XP, and I'll start X apps hosted on the Ubuntu laptop via SSH with extreme 
ease on the XP laptop.
