I seriously doubt that. Microsoft would stand to lose the most if the
court systems through out the majority of their patents. They aren't
doing this to help anybody but themsleves.

I was talking to a friend last night who said that Microsoft doesn't
like the current state of the patent system either.
They can victimized by frivolous patent infringement cases just like
anyone else.  He suggested that M$ might be doing this to make a
point...which may result in better court decisions or better laws being
made.
