Well, it looks like we won't have to bother with AJAX anymore:

This JavaFX sounds promising, not just as a better alternative
to AJAX but also as a free and open-source competitor to Flash
and Silverlight. Combined with the official open-sourcing of
Java <http://openjdk.java.net/> yesterday, I think this JavaFX
is really going to take off, especially in Linux.
