In the old days I would follow the Samba Fault Tree like at
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/ch09_01.html and
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/ch09_02.html but I
don't know if active directory is included in this free edition. But it
might rule out some things.....
