I ran across this short video on CNET TV and found it useful-- a quick
guide to the keyboard shortcuts for VLC while in full-screen mode:

If you haven't tried it, it's an excellent cross-platform media player
for nearly every file format out there (of course, you need the right
codecs-- though many are provided).
